Commercial Landlord Hardship Grant

The NSW State Government has established a fund to assist commercial landlords (if eligible) who have granted rent relief to a tenant due to Covid-19.

It is possible to apply for a grant of up to $3,000 per commercial or retail property, if you are an eligible landlord who has provided a rental waiver. The amount of the grant is linked to the amount of rent waived.

To be eligible you must:

  • be a commercial landlord (ie the tenancy must involve a shop or office or other commercial premises);

  • have total taxable unimproved landholdings of less than $5 million (excluding primary place of residence);

  • have rental income as your primary source of income (ie at least 50% of your income);

  • have provided rental waivers to your Covid-impacted tenants of at least the same value of the grant – AND entered into the agreement on or after 13 July 2021;

  • attest that providing rent relief to your tenant(s) will cause you financial hardship.

If you have provided rent relief to a commercial tenant and would like advice regarding applying for a grant, then please email our office at admin@peacockes.com or call  (02) 6882 3133.
