Apprehended Violence Orders (AVO's) are sought when a person believes they are in need of protection. A court must grant an Apprehended Violence Order if it believes the applicant has shown that the person in need of protection has genuine reasons to be afraid for their safety or for the safety of their property or the safety of those they live with.
